U.S. company Alion was awarded contracts from the Weapon Systems Technology Information Analysis Center and the Advanced Materials, Manufacturing and Testing Information Analysis Center.
Under the WSTIAC and AMMTIAC contracts, worth approximately $2.1 million, Alion will support the DTIC's Total Electronic Migration System project. Officials said the project includes digitizing documents from information analysis centers in order to help migrate scientific and technical data to an electronic format.
"AMMTIAC and WSTIAC house more than 400,000 hard-copy documents that are not yet digitized," Chris Amos, Alion senior vice president and manager of the Technology Solutions Group, said in a statement.
"The combined libraries would require at least six full tractor trailers to move. By scanning this critical scientific and technical information, the (information analysis centers) will be able to store, search, retrieve and use data in the performance of their respective missions."
