INDIANAPOLIS, Feb. 27 (UPI) -- The U.S. Air Force has contracted Rolls-Royce to provide engine-support services for transport aircraft being delivered to the Royal Norwegian Air Force.
Rolls-Royce's Indianapolis-based operations were awarded a MissionCare contract by the U.S. Air Force for maintenance work on the AE 2100D3 engines. The Air Force sold an undisclosed number of Lockheed Martin C-130J Super Hercules military transport aircraft to the Royal Norwegian Air Force to support Norway's intra-theater lift capabilities.
Officials said Rolls-Royce was awarded the $23 million contract to maintain the AE 2100D3 engines that are installed in the C-130J Super Hercules being sent to the Royal Norwegian Air Force.
"This MissionCare contract is extremely important for Rolls-Royce and the U.S. Air Force as it opens the door for future international opportunities and broadens the reach of this versatile transport aircraft," Dennis Jarvi, Rolls-Royce Defense North America president, said in a statement.
"We will continue to deliver superior services to the U.S. Air Force and look forward to building on this by providing the Royal Norwegian Air Force with propulsion-system support that will help them meet their mission needs."
