SAN DIEGO, Feb. 12 (UPI) -- The U.S. Defense Department has contracted Science Applications International Corp. to provide joint capability analysis and engineering support services.

U.S. company SAIC was awarded the contract to support the Joint Forces Command Joint Capability Development Directorate.

Under the contract, SAIC will provide JFCOM with analysis and engineering services to address joint capability development challenges, including command and control operations.

"JFCOM and their mission to support the joint war fighter remains an important focus for us," Beverly Seay, SAIC senior vice president and business unit general manager, said in a statement.

"Our work with them directly supports many facets of our military's capability across the services, and our men and women supporting the JFCOM mission take a very focused approach to helping solve the challenges they face."

Officials say the Joint Test and Evaluation Engineering Services multiple award task order contract is worth more than $81 million, if all options are exercised.
