Army awards deal for BrightEye lighting

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C., Feb. 11 (UPI) -- The U.S. Army has contracted Cyberlux Corp. for the company to deliver additional tactical lighting systems for use in Iraq.

North Carolina-based Cyberlux was awarded the contract from the Army 3rd Battalion, 142nd Assault Helicopter Battalion. Currently deployed in Iraq, the 142nd contracted Cyberlux for the delivery of two of the company's BrightEye Tactical Lighting Systems.

The BrightEye systems are a portable illumination technology designed for mission-critical tactical lighting. The announced contract follows a previous award from the Army that was placed in mid-2008.

Officials say the additional BrightEye systems will be used to support maintenance and force operations including mission-critical helicopter maintenance tasks.

"We remain enthusiastic knowing that our BrightEye Tactical Lighting Systems are being so well received in the Iraqi theater of operation," said Mark Schmidt, Cyberlux chief executive officer.
