DLA orders MOLLE systems from BAE

PHOENIX, Feb. 2 (UPI) -- The U.S. Defense Department's Defense Logistics Agency has contracted BAE Systems for its Modular Lightweight Load Carrying Equipment systems.

British company BAE was awarded 17 orders for its MOLLE systems from the Defense Logistics Agency to support the U.S. Army. Officials say the 17 orders are worth a total of $39.4 million and are for seven types of BAE's MOLLE systems.

BAE's MOLLE systems are used by the Army as its primary field equipment system enabling soldiers to carry "equipment and supplies critical to their mission," the release said.

"This contract highlights the U.S. Department of Defense's confidence in the quality of our MOLLE products," Joe Coltman, BAE Individual Equipment vice president, said in a statement.

"We have produced over 1.5 million MOLLE items over the last four years, demonstrating that our equipment is a mainstay on the battlefield with the U.S. Army."
