HOUSTON, Jan. 30 (UPI) -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has awarded KBR a follow-on contract for continued work on a convoy support center in Iraq.

Texas-based KBR was awarded a phase II contract from the Army Corps of Engineers, Transatlantic Programs Center, based in Virginia. Under the $35.4 million deal, KBR will be expected to continue work on the Camp Adder convoy support center in Iraq.

Officials say as part of the phase II contract, scheduled to begin in February, KBR will lead a team constructing a power plant and electrical distribution station at the convoy center, among other requirements supporting long-term security initiatives and the rebuilding of the Iraqi infrastructure.

"KBR has served the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Department of Defense for many years, most recently providing services integral to missions in Iraq," Bruce Stanski, KBR Government and Infrastructure president, said in a statement.

"We remain committed to providing quality services to the Army Corps and Defense Department for the successful completion of the Camp Adder convoy support center."
