SPRINGFIELD, Va., Jan. 19 (UPI) -- U.S. company Tetra Tech has contracted Versar to support a deal with the U.S. Navy for resources management services at naval facilities.

The Navy contracted Tetra Tech for biological resources management under an award worth $50 million. Tetra Tech subcontracted Virginia-based Versar to join the team supporting resource management for the Naval Facilities Engineering Command Atlantic's area of responsibility.

Officials say under the Tetra Tech-led team, Versar will provide wetland and coastal management studies, among other services.

"We are pleased to be part of an outstanding biological resources support team that will be providing important ecological and natural resource services to such an important client," Ted Prociv, Versar president and chief executive officer, said in a statement.

"Under this contract, Versar will be expanding our nationally recognized ecological services activities into new geographical areas and to a major new client."
