Army orders more tactical generators

OAKLAND, N.J., Jan. 12 (UPI) -- The U.S. Army has awarded a follow-on contract to Dewey Electronics Corp. for the delivery of additional military tactical generators.

U.S. company Dewey Electronics was awarded the contract from the Army Communications Electronics Command at Fort Monmouth in New Jersey. Under the approximately $2.8 million order, Dewey Electronics will support CECOM with the delivery of its 2kW military tactical generator systems.

Officials say the contract, a follow-on deal from a 2001 CECOM order, includes delivery of the company's AC (alternating current) and DC (direct current) 2kW variants. The 2kW is widely deployed by the U.S. Defense Department with more than 11,000 units ordered from Dewey Electronics over the last 12 years.

"This order represents the continued demand for the company's existing product line of our man-portable 2kW MTG," John Dewey, Dewey Electronics president and chief executive officer, said in a statement.

"Everyone here at Dewey is proud of this continued opportunity to supply our armed forces with a compact portable diesel power source that, we believe, supports their needs for simple and reliable power."
