SPRINGFIELD, Va., Dec. 23 (UPI) -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has contracted the Versar Inc.-Viking Corp. team to construct a tactical equipment maintenance building.
Virginia-based Versar and Viking, based in Maryland, were awarded a $9.44 million contract from the Army Corps of Engineers-Norfolk District. Under the announced deal the Versar-Viking team will construct a new equipment maintenance facility at Fort Lee in Virginia.
Officials say the facility will include parking and storage areas to support maintenance for the Army's 49th Field Artillery Battalion's heavy equipment.
"This is another example of the confidence the Army's Corps of Engineers has in Versar's engineering and construction abilities," Ted Prociv, Versar president and chief executive officer, said in a statement.
"We continue to increase our project management work in Virginia and the Mid-Atlantic area for the Army."
