Teen solves centuries-old math problem
WASHINGTON, Dec. 8 (UPI) -- The U.S. Army has contracted ICx Technologies to lead a sensor systems integration team for the Army Research, Development and Engineering Command.
U.S. company ICx will become the prime contractor under a three-year, $9.4 million deal for systems engineering and integration of sensors on the Army's manned and unmanned platforms.
Under the deal, ICx, as part of the lead technical contractor, will integrate the sensor systems into the Joint Force Protection Advanced Security System Joint Capability Technology Demonstration.
Officials say the sensors will include systems for perimeter security and chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and high-yield explosive detection technologies, or CBRNE.
"A large part of our vision as a company has been to provide integrated solutions to our customers and, in the process, to bridge the gap between physical force protection and the CBRNE sensor-based world," Hans Kobler, ICx chairman and chief executive officer, said in a statement.
"JFPASS is an opportunity for us to demonstrate our capabilities and build this solution for the Department of Defense."
