CHARLOTTE, N.C., Nov. 26 (UPI) -- The U.S. Defense Department has contracted Goodrich Corp. for the company's satellite technologies in support of military units in combat theaters.
U.S. company Goodrich says its Connecticut-based ISR Systems unit will manufacture a satellite technology designed to support the Defense Department's Operationally Responsive Space program.
Goodrich has partnered with Virginia-based ATK Space Systems for the program. Officials say the satellite is part of an effort to advance the military's space capabilities for soldiers in the field.
"Our satellite system will provide valuable operational capability to commanders in the field and will utilize capabilities proven on Goodrich's portfolio of intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance solutions," Tom Bergeron, Goodrich ISR Systems president, said in a statement.
