LANCASTER, Pa., Nov. 25 (UPI) -- Pennsylvania-based Herley Industries Inc. has been awarded approximately $4.5 million to support F-16 fighter aircraft upgrades.

Herley says its Massachusetts-based operations, Herley New England, received the contract awarded to design custom microwave assemblies for the F-16 upgrade program. Company officials did not release the name of the contractor.

The Lockheed Martin-built F-16 Fighting Falcon, used by more than 20 allied air forces around the world, is the U.S. Air Force's multimission fighter aircraft.

"This award follows a successful development program completed by Herley New England last year," Myron Levy, Herley chairman and chief executive officer, said in a statement.

"Herley has produced microwave components for the F-16 for many years, and we expect to receive additional awards for this upgrade."
