ASHBURN, Va., Nov. 13 (UPI) -- The U.S. Air Force has contracted Telos Corp. for the company to support voice and data communications at Charleston Air Force Base in South Carolina.

Virginia-based Telos was awarded almost $800,000 as part of the Air Force's Network Centric Solutions contract vehicle. As part of the task order, Telos will provide wiring installation to secure Charleston Air Force Base's wireless local area network and other communication capabilities.

Officials say the task order also includes the installation of future wireless access points for a possible WLAN expansion at the base.

"We are pleased to deliver the enterprise-class network infrastructure backbone for secure voice and data communications for the Air Force base in Charleston," Charisse Stokes, Telos Southeast Network Centric program manager, said in a statement.

"This contract demonstrates our ability to serve the critical communications needs of the Air Force and to continue our support of military missions and U.S. government operations."
