HAIFA, Israel, Nov. 11 (UPI) -- Embraer has contracted Elbit Systems Ltd. for avionics technologies in support of an aircraft upgrade initiative from the Brazilian air force.

Israel-based Elbit Systems was awarded a $187 million deal from Brazilian aircraft company Embraer to support a contract with the Brazilian air force. Under the deal, Elbit Systems will supply mission computer technologies for Brazil's AMX jets along with the ammunition management system and other avionics systems.

"We take great pride in our selection for this important project," Joseph Ackerman, Elbit Systems president and chief executive officer, said in a statement.

"We believe our selection reflects the satisfaction of our Brazilian customers from our past performance, including our long-standing successful collaboration with Embraer."
