FALLS CHURCH, Va., Nov. 6 (UPI) -- DynCorp International has been contracted by the U.S. Defense Department to support the transition of responsibilities to the Iraqi government.

Under the $99 million deal, U.S. company DynCorp will support the Multi-National Security Transition Command-Iraq transition of security responsibilities from Multi-National Forces to the Iraqi government.

As part of the contract, DynCorp will provide as many as 128 senior positions for mentors and advisers as part of the transition effort.

"We are honored to be awarded this important role in the effort to bring about a full democratic transition in Iraq," William Ballhaus, DynCorp chief executive officer, said in a statement.

"We see this mission as an opportunity to use our valuable experience in international police advising to provide high-level support to our government's plan to bring about a full and secure transition in Iraq."
