GROTON, Conn., Nov. 3 (UPI) -- General Dynamics has been contracted by the U.S. Navy to support modernization work on non-nuclear submarines.

U.S. company General Dynamics says its Electric Boat subsidiary received a $10.2 million contract modification for modernization work at the Naval Submarine Support Facility.

Officials say the contract modification is part of a larger five-year contract with the Navy worth $201.8 million if all options are exercised.

Under the announced contract, General Dynamics will provide submarine modernization and repair work in Groton, Conn. Officials say General Dynamics will perform tasks that include "intermediate overhaul, repair and modernization activities in support of submarines, the shipping port floating dry-dock and support and service craft," the release said.
