POMPANO BEACH, Fla., Oct. 24 (UPI) -- The U.S. Army has contracted Point Blank Solutions Inc. for the company to supply body armor technologies.

Florida-based Point Blank Solutions received a $31.0 million order from the Army to supply its Interceptor Outer Tactical Vests body armor system.

Officials say Point Blank Solutions, an advanced body armor systems developer, also will supply related ballistic components to protect soldiers in combat zones.

"This is a meaningful contract for our company and is a testament to the quality of our solutions and our longstanding government and military relationships," Larry Ellis, Point Blank Solutions president and chief executive officer, said in a statement.

The newly announced contract is in addition to a previous order from the Defense Logistics Agency for Improved Outer Tactical Vests and Interceptor Outer Tactical Vests.
