GAITHERSBURG, Md., Oct. 20 (UPI) -- U.S. company Lockheed Martin announced plans to address the evolving cybersecurity market through establishing a Center for Cyber Security Innovation.

Lockheed Martin officials say the cybersecurity unit will focus on developing new innovations and technologies to strengthen cybersecurity for defense and homeland security customers.

The new Center for Cyber Security Innovation will be strategically led by retired Air Force Lt. Gen. Charles Croom and operationally led by Lee Holcomb, a former Lockheed Martin senior executive service official.

"This evolution does not change what we do in cybersecurity, but how we do it," Rick Johnson, Lockheed Martin Information Systems and Global Services chief technology officer, said in a statement.

"We intend to uniformly execute the delivery of our cybersecurity solutions across the company to benefit our customers long term."
