Army to get Medium Tactical Vehicles

WARRENVILLE, Ill., Sept. 19 (UPI) -- The U.S. Army has awarded Navistar Defense two orders for the delivery of Medium Tactical Vehicles for use in the Iraq and Afghanistan combat theaters.

Illinois-based Navistar Defense received two orders worth more than $39 million from the Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command, Life Cycle Management Command.

Navistar Defense's Medium Tactical Vehicles are built on the company's International WorkStar platform and designed to support a variety of tasks required by the TACOM. Officials say the two orders are for the delivery of 251 vehicles, which include water tankers, fuel and recovery trucks, among other Medium Tactical Vehicle variants.

"Navistar's track record for providing quality vehicles and rapid customization capabilities to defend against evolving threats has helped position us as a leader in the defense industry," Bob Walsh, Navistar Defense vice president, said in a statement.

"Our family of Medium Tactical Vehicles continues to provide the U.S. military and its allies with a comprehensive value solution that includes military vehicles and worldwide parts and field service support."
