AAI demonstrates ground control station

HUNT VALLEY, Md., Sept. 19 (UPI) -- AAI Corp. has successfully demonstrated a new technology designed to support U.S. and NATO unmanned air and ground vehicles' interoperability.

Maryland-based AAI says the demonstration, at Redstone Arsenal in Alabama, was of its ground control station. The new command-and-control system is part of an initiative to establish seamless interoperability with the military's unmanned air and ground vehicles.

The new ground control station is based on the U.S. Army's One System and is compliant with the NATO standardization agreement 4586.

"The objective of NATO standardization agreement 4586 is to create interoperability among different unmanned systems utilized by the alliance's military forces," Steven Reid, AAI vice president of unmanned aircraft systems, said in a statement.

"Because of AAI's longstanding expertise in ground control station technologies, we are embracing this objective to create total ground control station interoperability across various types of unmanned platforms. This will keep American and allied war fighters safe, as well as increase their mission success rate."
