Smiths Detection launches new Sabre

PINE BROOK, N.J., Sept. 16 (UPI) -- U.S. company Smiths Detection has released a new version of its Sabre chemical threat detection technology that offers greater facility in air monitoring.

Smiths Detection launched the Sabre Centurion II, a next-generation air monitoring technology offering simultaneous detection of chemical warfare and toxic industrial agents.

The Sabre Centurion II, linked to Smiths Detection's FirstView-iSC3 surveillance software, is an effort by Smiths Detection to better protect infrastructure and facilities from potential threats through a rapid alert system.

"As the risk of chemical threats in public areas increases all over the world, Smiths Detection continues to develop enhanced detection solutions," Stephen Phipson, Smiths Detection group managing director, said in a statement.

"Early detection is often the key to saving lives, and Centurion II and integrated technologies were designed to meet this challenge."
