MORGANTOWN, W.Va., Sept. 10 (UPI) -- The U.S. Navy has contracted Augusta Systems Inc. to provide port and river security technologies for installation at naval facilities.

The Navy Office of Naval Research awarded West Virginia-based Augusta Systems a $776,000 deal to supply its platform of security and surveillance technologies.

Under the deal, Augusta Systems, with support from partner EyeSee360 Inc., will deliver its intelligent networked technology that will enable panoramic imaging capable of detecting changes in multiple images of the same scene taken at different times. Officials say the surveillance system wirelessly sends alert information to naval security personnel.

"This intelligent, panoramic imaging system features greater capabilities than the usual surveillance system, resulting in better protection for military facilities and assets," Patrick Esposito, Augusta Systems president and chief operating officer, said in a statement.

"The system can capture panoramic images, process the data in the field intelligently and communicate critical security information to military decision-makers, as needed."
