PITTSBURGH, Aug. 29 (UPI) -- Phoenix emergency response authorities have contracted Draeger to supply self-contained breathing apparatus units for deployment with its fire department.

Pennsylvania-based Draeger will supply its PSS7000 SCBA technologies in support of the Phoenix Fire Department's emergency response operations.

The contract was awarded to Draeger after the company scored higher than six other companies on an evaluation conducted by Phoenix firefighters.

Officials say Draeger's PSS7000 SCBA was scored on 15 different tests. "The Draeger unit placed first -- over 110 points higher than the second-place finisher and over 166 points higher than the third-ranking SCBA manufacturer," the release said.

With the selection, the City of Phoenix awarded Draeger a contract for more than 800 of its PSS7000 SCBA units.
