TiaLinx to continue RF sensor development

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., Aug. 19 (UPI) -- The U.S. Army has awarded a follow-on phase II contract to TiaLinx Inc. for continued development of ordnance threat detection technologies.

California-based advanced electronic module developer TiaLinx received the small business innovative research phase II award from the Army for continued work on its integrated millimeter-wave radio frequency sensor technology.

Company officials say the mm-wave RF sensors are being developed for deployment with the Homeland Security Department and to detect unexploded ordnances threatening U.S. forces in combat zones such as Iraq and Afghanistan. The technology under development is expected to detect explosives behind walls, alongside roads and in various weather conditions.

"Army's award was based on a thorough evaluation of the feasibility study during phase I, indicating TiaLinx's radio frequency imaging technological breakthrough," Fred Mohamadi, TiaLinx chief executive officer, said in a statement.

"TiaLinx's highly integrated mm-wave RF sensor technology is revolutionizing multi-discipline Department of Defense projects and positioning TiaLinx to lead the miniaturized radar and RF sensor market."
