SAO JOSE DOS CAMPOS, Brazil, Aug. 18 (UPI) -- The Chilean air force has contracted Brazilian aerospace conglomerate Embraer for Super Tucano aircraft to support pilot tactical training.
Under the deal, Embraer will deliver 12 counterinsurgency light attack Super Tucano aircraft to the Chilean air force. Officials say the Tucano aircraft, also operated by the Brazilian and Colombian air forces, will support the Chilean air force pilot tactical training.
As part of the deal, Embraer will also offer training and operation support for the aircraft.
"We are very proud to announce that the Super Tucano is the aircraft chosen by the Chilean air force, which is internationally recognized for the high professional capacity of its personnel," Luiz Carlos Aguiar, Embraer Defense and Government Market executive vice president, said in a statement.
"We offer the most efficient and operationally adequate tactical training system on the market, with leading-edge technologies and a broad service package. The availability of the Super Tucano will most certainly make a positive contribution to pilot training in the Chilean air force."
