CHINA LAKE, Calif., Aug. 4 (UPI) -- Raytheon announced its Paveway IV weapon system has successfully completed demonstration trials by the British Royal Air Force.

The Paveway IV is a general purpose precision-bombing technology developed by Raytheon for operations in various weather conditions and both day and night firing capabilities.

The Royal Air Force trials demonstrated the Paveway IV's range as part of a next-generation general purpose compatibility with the Harrier GR9 strike aircraft.

"The enhanced features of the Paveway IV weapon demonstrated the expanded performance, unrivaled flexibility and operational effectiveness the Ministry of Defense expected when it awarded this important contract to Raytheon," Tobin Touchstone, Raytheon Systems Ltd. director of precision systems, said in a statement.
