TEWKSBURY, Mass., June 19 (UPI) -- California-based Teknowledge Corp. has contracted Raytheon to evaluate a new information assurance technology developed for the U.S. military.
Officials say the new technology is an effort to protect U.S. defense systems against potential attacks by increasing information assurance capabilities. Massachusetts-based Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems will partner with Teknowledge to evaluate the new technology's potential by applying it to a multi-domain system to see whether it interprets an operator's behavior and whether certain actions taken would harm the defense system.
"Protecting defense systems from inadvertent or malicious operator actions is vitally important," Mark Russell, Raytheon IDS engineering vice president, said in a statement. "Threats from within may represent a vulnerability to these systems."
Officials say the evaluation will simulate actual applications and threat scenarios to assess whether it is capable of threat mitigation in defense programs.
