MCLEAN, Va., June 12 (UPI) -- The U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency has contracted Science Applications International Corp. to support the battlefield simulation program.
Under the contract, which includes two one-year options worth more than $42 million, SAIC will support DARPA's Deep Green Program. Officials say the program offers commanders and soldiers in the field the ability to generate multiple simulated operation choices for more effective decision-making.
DARPA contracted SAIC to design and develop the system for the Deep Green program including computer interfaces and a synthetic battle-space engine, among other design requirements.
"The Deep Green program will significantly advance military planning technology to support the capabilities of the commander on the battlefield," Beverly Seay, SAIC senior vice president and business unit general manager, said in a statement.
"We are proud to leverage our expertise in the areas of modeling and simulation, software development, and systems integration to advance this cutting-edge program. We look forward to creating an intuitive system that will help commanders visualize the future and act effectively to save war fighters' lives."
