NORWALK, Conn., May 1 (UPI) -- Connecticut-based Splinternet Holdings Inc. says it has acquired Vidiation Inc. in a move to increase its reach into the homeland security market.
Splinternet official say the acquisition will integrate Illinois-based Vidiation's radiation detection technologies still in the development-stage with Splinternet's trademarked DefenTech gamma radiation detection system. Company officials say with the acquisition, Splinternet is attempting to increase its market share in the growing radiological terrorist prevention market.
Splinternet and Vidiation have worked together in the past with cross-reseller agreements.
"Vidiation and Splinternet are dedicated to developing integrated protection systems to thwart illegal transport of radiological source material," James Ackerly, Splinternet chief executive officer, said in a statement. "By working together, next generation radiological detection systems will be accelerated to market."
