WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., April 22 (UPI) -- The U.S. Naval Air Systems Command has contracted New York-based ITT Corp. to provide countermeasure technologies for the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet aircraft.
Under the $111 million award, ITT will supply the Maryland-based Naval Air Systems Command with its AN/ALQ-214(V)3, an integrated countermeasure system. Officials say the Integrated Defensive Electronic Counter-measures System contract offers the Super Hornet self-protection capabilities.
As part of the contract, ITT, a developer of electronic countermeasure technologies for military aircraft mission critical applications, will also deliver some of the AN/ALQ-214(V)3 countermeasure technologies to the Royal Australian Air Force for their F/A-18 E/F Super Hornets.
"ITT is pleased and privileged to be a provider of these important self-protection systems," Chris Bernhardt, ITT electronic systems president, said in a statement. "We look forward to continuing production of these electronic counter-measures systems supporting United States and allied forces."
