Black Box contracted for Army upgrades

HERNDON, Va., March 17 (UPI) -- The U.S. Army announced it has contracted Virginia-based Black Box Network Services for telecommunications upgrades at Ft. Bragg, N.C.

The contract, managed by the Army Product Manager for Defense Communications Systems, is part of an I3MP infrastructure modernization. Officials say Black Box Network Services will provide Ft. Bragg with telecommunications infrastructure upgrades under a potential four-year up to $58 million contract award.

"Our entire Black Box team is honored to have been awarded the Ft. Bragg IMOD (I3MP Infrastructure Modernization) project," Black Box Network Services Federal Division Senior Vice President and General Manager Jeffrey Murray said in a statement.

"It enables us to continue to build upon joint successes under the IMOD program and provide critical infrastructure improvements and support for Ft. Bragg. We look forward to providing the U.S. Army with the very best in solutions, services and technical support under this I3MP mission critical Army program."

Officials say the Black Box Network Services IMOD contract includes "integrated telecommunications infrastructure consisting of multiple vendor platforms including communication facilities, power systems, inside and outside plant infrastructure, Internet protocol network systems and optical transport systems for Ft. Bragg," the release said.
