STAMFORD, Conn., Feb. 25 (UPI) -- The U.S. Defense Department has contracted L-1 Identity Solutions Inc. to support the Program Management Office Defense Travel System.

PMO-DTS, part of the Defense Department's Business Transformation Agency, awarded Connecticut-based L-1 Identity Solutions a blanket purchase agreement for program management and engineering support to the PMO-DTS. L-1 Identity Solutions' subsidiary Advanced Concepts Inc. will perform work on the one-year, $10 million deal to support the Defense Travel System's seamless and paperless travel system for temporary duty travel for military and civilian Defense Department employees. Officials say the blanket purchase agreement also has extension options for four additional years valued at $10 million per year.

"ACI's credentials as an information technology solution provider with the expertise and scale to lead a major important program within the Department of Defense is firmly set with ACI as the lead on this important project from the Business Transformation Agency," Robert LaPenta, L-1 Identity Solutions chairman, president and chief executive officer, said in a statement.

"This vote of confidence is a testimony to the strength and depth of the ACI team and we are confident that we will provide the capabilities necessary to help deliver added efficiencies for the Department of Defense as it continues to improve its paperless travel system."

As part of the contract, ACI will provide "systems engineers, financial analysts, program analysts, and subject matter experts to support the Program Management Office in systems engineering, strategic planning, business process re-engineering, budgeting, software testing, configuration management, communications support, information assurance and other analytical functions," the release said.
