"The awards honor, recognize and promote initiatives in the Department of Defense, coalition governments and defense industry that exemplify the principles of network centric warfare and support information age transformation," the company said.

"The AFATDS awards for the outstanding achievement from the defense industry and for outstanding U.S. government program were based on a review by a panel of judges representing the Department of Defense, active duty military, industry and academia," Raytheon said.

"This is a tremendous honor for our government customer and industry team," said Jack Harrington, vice president, command and control systems for Raytheon's Network Centric Systems. "We continue to build on a solid foundation as we evolve our products to meet the future needs of the war fighter while delivering innovative solutions."

"AFATDS is part of the battle command networked system, providing fire support command and control capability for the Army and Marine Corps. It has been employed in combat operations in Afghanistan and Iraq," Raytheon said.

"We are proud that our efforts are truly making a difference," said Ted Hom, product director, Fire Support Command and Control, PM Battle Command. "We continually strive to exploit advances in technology and robust net-centric capabilities to provide our war fighters the best equipment available."
