SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 17 (UPI) -- The U.S. Air Force's Air Education and Training Command announced it has contracted URS Corp. for undergraduate flight training support.
California-based URS is an engineering, construction and technical services contractor. The company's EG&G Division will perform the work on the Air Force AETC flight training program deal that officials say if all options are exercised could be worth $267 million.
Course development, simulator and academic instruction will be supplied by URS for the T-1, T-6, T-37 and T-38 advanced training aircrafts. The company will also provide officers in the Undergraduate Flight Training program combat systems training.
"We are very pleased to have been selected by the Air Force for this contract, which underscores URS' position as a leader in military flight training," Randall Wotring, EG&G Division president, said in a statement. "URS has been working with the Air Force for 16 years to support the Undergraduate Flight Training program and is proud to be continuing this important work."
