HERNDON, Va., Jan. 10 (UPI) -- U.S. company Northrop Grumman has named two new vice presidents to run its Technical Services sector.

The company said in a statement Thursday it had "appointed two vice presidents at its Technical Services sector, which provides base operations, infrastructure support, performance-based logistics, supply chain management, training support and services to the U.S. Department of Defense, Department of Energy, Department of State, NASA, other governmental agencies and international customers."

"David Reith has been appointed vice president and controller and Gregory A. Schmidt has been appointed vice president and general manager of strategic planning and operations," Northrop Grumman said.

"These executive appointments fill critical positions that will directly contribute to the sector's business performance and strategic growth objectives," said James Cameron, corporate vice president and president of Northrop Grumman Technical Services.

"Both of these proven leaders bring strong technical and managerial skills gained through positions of increased responsibility from within the greater Northrop Grumman enterprise. Their track record of success reinforces our vision of 'Driving to be the Best in the World at What We Do,'" Cameron said.

"Reith will oversee sector financial operations, including financial planning and reporting, pricing, rates, budgets, regulatory compliance, accounting, and will ensure compliance with internal control practices and company policies and procedures," Northrop Grumman said.

Reith "joined Northrop Grumman in 1987 and has held a number of increasingly responsible finance and business management positions in the company's Newport News and Electronic Systems sectors, including serving as business manager for the transition and integration of Litton operations into Electronic Systems. He most recently served as sector controller for Newport News," the company said.

"Schmidt will manage strategic operations and planning, focusing on operational execution in balance with strategic planning and development of new markets and targets to rapidly expand the sector's business base and maximize profitability. He most recently served as the vice president of the radio frequency combat and information systems business area for Electronics Systems. He joined Northrop Grumman in 1982," the company said.
