NEWARK, N.Y., Jan. 10 (UPI) -- The British Ministry of Defense announced a prime contractor has awarded Ultralife a deal to supply battery technologies to the British armed forces.
Ultralife, based in New York, is a power solutions and communications accessories developer manufacturing non-rechargeable and rechargeable batteries, charging systems and accessories for the U.S. and British defense agencies among others.
Under an approximately $7 million deal from an undisclosed prime contractor for the British Ministry of Defense, Ultralife will provide lithium ion rechargeable batteries and chargers to the British military.
"We are delighted that our industry-leading batteries and charging systems designed with our SmartCircuit technology have been chosen as a power source for use by the British military," John Kavazanjian, Ultralife president and chief executive officer, said in a statement.
"The contract solidifies our platform to further build relationships with prime international defense contractors and offers us the opportunity to increase volume at our United Kingdom facility."
Officials say deliveries are expected to begin in January.
