RESTON, Va., Nov. 30 (UPI) -- Virginia-based NCI has received an information technology enterprise solutions services contract from the U.S. Army for strategic technology support.

NCI Inc. is an information technology services provider to U.S. government agencies. Under the ITES-2S $8.2 million contract the company will provide IT strategic planning and concept development among other services to the Crystal City, Va., and Ft. Huachuca, Ariz.-based U.S. Army Network Enterprise Technology Command/9th Signal Command Enterprise Systems Technology Activity.

NCI officials say the contract is an effort to "reduce the total cost of ownership and improve network security by providing services to standardized desktop and server software configurations. Additionally, NCI will provide enterprise-level concept development, network and systems engineering, and integration services supporting Army LandWarNet infrastructure systems," the release said.

"NETCOM/9th SC ESTA has a central role in the Army's critical infrastructure and transformation initiative," Terry Glasgow, NCI president and chief operating officer, said in a statement.

"NCI is pleased to have been awarded this contract by the Army Contracting Agency, Information Technology, E-Commerce and Commercial Contracting Center. We look forward to building upon and expanding our partnership with NETCOM and assisting them in achieving their mission goals."
