SPRINGFIELD, Va., Nov. 8 (UPI) -- Virginia-based Versar Inc. announced it has been contracted to continue work on Afghan National Army and police projects among others in Afghanistan.

Versar supports national defense and homeland defense programs with professional services. The firm also operates a number of security corporate Web sites.

Under a $1.5 million contract the firm will provide engineering services and construction management including quality assurance on several projects throughout Afghanistan.

Officials say the contracted projects will include the Air Force Center for Engineering and the Environment, Afghan National Army and police projects in support of Afghanistan reconstruction and security initiatives.

"Versar is committed to supporting our country's efforts to promote a stable and democratic Afghanistan," Ted Prociv, Versar president and chief executive, said in a statement. "This award reaffirms Versar's ability to deliver quality services in remote and challenging environments."
