RESTON, Va., Nov. 1 (UPI) -- The U.S. Air Force Systems Networking Program Office announced it has contracted Virginia-based NCI Inc. for information technology services.

NCI is an IT services and solutions provider for U.S. federal government agencies. The company was contracted for $4.8 million to supply systems and network IT support to the Headquarters, 754th Electronic Systems Group Operations, Infrastructure Systems Division, AFSN Program Office.

Company officials say the competitively won contract through the U.S. Air Force’s Network Centric Solutions is for one year with options for an additional year.

“We are very pleased to have been selected to provide this critical communications capability for the Air Force Systems Networking Program Office, and consider this program to be an important step in our strategy to provide vital operational services to our Air Force customers,” Terry Glasgow, president and chief operating officer, said in a statement.

NCI's IT services will support senior Air Force and Department of Defense aircraft leadership with secure communications while airborne using a mobile network-based interim communications capability along with IT systems support as well as configuration management, documentation and training services.
