NG puts safety products on show

NEW ORLEANS, Oct. 18 (UPI) -- U.S. firm Northrop Grumman this week displayed public safety products and solutions for first responders and law enforcement agencies.

The products were displayed from Sunday through Tuesday at the International Association of Chiefs of Police Annual Conference in New Orleans, the company said in a statement.

Northrop Grumman said its Information Technology sector put on show "its data interoperability solution used by the Silicon Valley Regional Interoperability Project -- SVRIP -- for the integrated data wireless system that will help improve emergency communications for public safety agencies in Santa Clara County, Calif. The project encompasses 18 Silicon Valley jurisdictions, representing about 30 law enforcement, fire and emergency medical services agencies that have partnered to enhance inter-agency coordination and communication during all-hazard situations."

Northrop Grumman said that it and SVRIP had "completed a design that includes an advanced integrated network that provides computer-aided dispatch -- CAD -- -to-CAD data interoperability. The solution was engineered by leveraging existing equipment and systems, and commercial-off-the-shelf technologies, and has applicability for first responder agencies nationwide. Northrop Grumman's CAD data interoperability solution uses standards-based software, provided by FATPOT Technologies, Inc., Bountiful, Utah."

Northrop Grumman said it also displayed at the show its "Law Enforcement Information Exchange -- LInX -- solution used by the U.S. Navy. LInX facilitates the sharing of data across local, state and federal agencies with a platform that retrieves data in support of investigative and tactical operations. As the prime contractor, Northrop Grumman developed the information sharing system for criminal investigators in several jurisdictions across the country, including Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Texas, and the Washington, D.C., region. Additional LInX development is planned for North Carolina and southern California in late 2007," it said.
