
EL SEGUNDO, Calif., Oct. 17 (UPI) -- The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has announced it has contracted California-based Computer Sciences Corp. for information-technology support.
CSC is an IT services company in industry and government markets.
Under the $53 million contract CSC will provide desk support, systems training and security and strategic business system planning among other business intelligence analysis support services for the DHS's Citizenship and Immigration Services Verification Information System.
Additionally, CSC will be expected to ensure that the VIS meets all operational technology requirements for state and federal legislation mandating the use of E-Verify, a key data source for the verification of immigrant status for use in securing driver's licenses, Social Security cards and benefits eligibility, the REAL ID Act of 2005 and an electronic employment verification system.
"This award demonstrates the confidence that the Department of Homeland Security and the USCIS have in CSC to continue providing proven technical and operational capabilities to meet their critical mission requirements," said James W. Sheaffer, president of CSC's North American public sector business unit, in a statement.
