CHANTILLY, Va., Sept. 13 (UPI) -- U.S. firm Lockheed Martin said Thursday it has opened a new C4ISR facility for its Information Systems and Global Services.

The company said the new office building in Chantilly, Va., was called Stonegate II and that it would "expand Lockheed Martin’s existing Chantilly operations in support of the company’s government customers."

"The 6-story, 145,000-square-foot building will house approximately 600 employees. Lockheed Martin’s Information Systems & Global Services business area will be the main occupant of the facility and will provide enterprise-level systems integration related to Command, Control, Communications, Computing, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance -- C4ISR," the company said in a statement.

“The capabilities developed in this facility will enable our government customers to quickly turn information into actionable intelligence,” said Bill Graham, Lockheed Martin vice president and general manager for Systems Integration. “We also look forward to expanding our relationship with the local community as we continue to grow our presence in Fairfax County.”

"In addition to office and laboratory space, the building has a 220-seat auditorium, a cafeteria and conference rooms. Stonegate II is located in the Westfields Corporate Center, adjacent to Lockheed Martin’s existing Stonegate I facility on Conference Center Drive," the company said.

Lockheed Martin is based in Bethesda, Md., and has a global staff of 140,000. The company said it is "principally engaged in the research, design, development, manufacture, integration and sustainment of advanced technology systems, products and services." The company said it had 2006 sales of $39.6 billion.
