PHOENIX, Sept. 11 (UPI) -- Arizona-based White Electronic Designs Corp. announced it has received a $7.9 million order for its Anti-Tamper technology processes.

WEDC is a manufacturer of technology components and systems for military, industrial and medical among other markets. WEDC's Defense Microelectronics Segment received the order involving the company's System-in-Package products utilized in military platforms with the Anti-Tamper technology processes.

The Defense Microelectronics Division works with defense-aerospace primes in a U.S. Department of Defense secure facility in an effort to provide security solutions with tamper-resistant technologies and processes for defense platforms and systems.

Company officials say the award brings the company's year-to-date bookings in Anti-Tamper process technology to approximately $14.0 million compared with $4.8 million at the conclusion of the third quarter.

"The company's strong book-to-bill ratio and record backlog of $69.0 million at the end of the third quarter are a direct result of the effectiveness of our sales team to execute on our strategic plan to grow our overall business," said Hamid Shokrgozar, chairman and chief executive officer of WEDC, in a statement.

"The progress achieved in our Anti-Tamper initiatives, as evidenced by this order, is an important component of that strategic plan. Clearly, the fundamentals of the company continue to reflect strength with a solid balance sheet that features a strong cash position, no debt and continuing execution of our stock buyback program. As always, we remain firmly committed to growing our business and enhancing shareholder value."

The company says the shipment of the order will begin in fiscal year 2008.
