CAMDEN, Ark., Aug. 24 (UPI) -- Lockheed Martin said Wednesday it would build the THAAD launcher and TFCC unit in Camden, Ark.
Lockheed Martin is the prime contractor and systems integrator for the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense Weapon System.
The THAAD launcher and Fire Control and Communications unit program will be built in Lockheed Martin's 200,000-square-foot Launcher Integration Complex. Camden Operations currently has a staff of 450. Some 35 new jobs will be added for the project and another 15 could be recruited by 2010, the company said in a statement Wednesday.

Mark Pryor, D-Ark. “I’m proud their facility was chosen for this exciting new product, it’s a win-win for national defense and the surrounding Camden community.”
Lockheed Martin's Camden complex already makes the Multiple Launch Rocket System launcher and a range of munitions such as the Guided MLRS Unitary Rocket and the lightweight High Mobility Artillery Rocket System launcher, which employs MLRS rockets and Army Tactical Missile System missiles. The U.S. Army's Patriot Advanced Capability-3 anti-ballistic missile interceptor is also made there.
