LAKE MARY, Fla., Aug. 23 (UPI) -- A new security course for the energy and utility sector is being offered by Florida-based Bullzi Security Inc.
Bullzi Security announced a North American Electric Reliability Corp. Awareness online e-learning course in an effort to better educate industry leaders about new security implementations.
Adopted by Cyber Security Standards CIP (critical infrastructure protection)-002-009 in 2006, the NERC standards ensure that the electronic exchange of information needed to support the reliability and the bulk power system are secure. Officials say the NERC standards have established the minimum requirements needed for the electric sector's owners and operators' compliance in a multiyear implementation.
"We've been developing a course specific to the NERC standard for a number of months and we are pleased to have completed the development ahead of schedule," said Michael Welch, co-founder and senior vice president of Bullzi Security, in a statement.
"This online education program addresses CIP 004-1, which is the part of the NERC standard that focuses on Cyber Security training, by educating and training employees on security threats and countermeasures. In addition to meeting the controls outlined in the compliance standard, the NERC Awareness Course is also completely customizable so as to allow organizations to address security issues that may be affected by corporate culture."
