Seoul sees no sign of disarmament in North

SEOUL, March 14 (UPI) -- North Korea has shown no signs of closing its nuclear reactor since last month's nuclear deal, South Korea's foreign minister said Wednesday.

"At this moment, there is no sign of any change in the operational condition of Yongbyon (nuclear) facility," Song Min-soon told a news briefing.

Under a Feb. 13 nuclear accord, the North promised to shut down and seal its plutonium-producing reactor at Yongbyon, north of Pyongyang, and invite back U.N. nuclear inspectors within 60 days as part of the initial phase for dismantling its nuclear programs.

Earlier this week, a news report said Washington has seen signs in recent days that North Korea is preparing to shut down its Yongbyon nuclear complex.

Song's comment comes at a time when Mohammed El-Baradei, head of the Vienna-based International Atomic Energy Agency, is traveling to Pyongyang to discuss inspections of the North's nuclear facilities.
