N.Korea talks to resume next month

SEOUL, Jan. 30 (UPI) -- South Korea Tuesday welcomed the resumption of six-nation talks on North Korea's nuclear drive and called for "tangible progress."

"The (South Korean) government hopes the involved parties will be able to produce substantial progress (in the next round of the nuclear talks)," the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The ministry also said that South Korea as a directly involved country would play an aggressive role in making progress in the six-way talks, it said.

Earlier, China's Foreign Ministry announced the six-party talks will be resumed on Feb. 8. The ministry did not give any other details.

China has hosted the six-nation talks since 2003, which also involve the United States, North and South Korea, Russia and Japan.
