Pakistani politician lauds Saudi Arabia

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, May 18 (UPI) -- A leading Pakistani politician has praised Saudi Arabia's position on issues of concern to Muslims.

Dawn newspaper reported on May 17 that Senate foreign affairs committee chairman and Pakistan Muslim League Secretary General Mushahid Hussain Syed lauded the government of Saudi Arabia in protecting the interests of the Muslim Ummah or community, particularly its action in withdrawing its ambassador from Denmark in the wake of publications there printing cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad that many Muslims deemed blasphemous.

Hussain told his guests that Saudi Arabia was in the forefront of efforts of making the Muslim world peaceful while he noted Saudi efforts on Palestine and Kashmir, issues of concern to the entire Ummah.

Hussain also noted Saudi opposition to use of force against Iran and its opinion that Iran had every right to develop peaceful nuclear energy facilities.
