WASHINGTON, May 10 (UPI) -- The powerful Senate Select Committee on Intelligence said it will hold conformation hearings for CIA Director Gen. Michael Hayden Thursday, May 18.
"The nation needs leadership in the Central Intelligence Agency and the Committee has a responsibility to move quickly on this important nomination," said committee Chairman Sen. Pat Roberts, R-Kan., in a statement Wednesday.
He said the Committee would hold an open hearing on Thursday, followed by a closed-door, classified session
"General Hayden is well known to the Intelligence Committee," Roberts said, noting that he had appeared "multiple times" before the Committee, and was previously confirmed in not just his current job as deputy director of national intelligence, but also his prior role as director of the National Security Agency.
