If found guilty, he faces up to 20 years in prison.

The priest, who has admitted his guilt, was previously found guilty of similar sexual acts in Canada in 1985.

The latest trial has sparked uproar in France.

On Tuesday, the second day of the trial, the alleged victim's weeping mother accused the priest of "betrayal."

The defendant, identified as "Jean-Luc," confessed to sleeping with Vadeboncoeur between the ages of 13 and 23.
